Push for Museum Support

Organizers of the new Great Plains Black History Museum Science and Technology Center want all of Omaha to be a part of its re-birth when it happens.

The Nebraska state legislature is considering a bill that would provide $8 million to the project, a 35,000 square foot museum.

Board members announced Tuesday that there will be an Appropriations Committee public hearing Thursday afternoon at the state capitol building so they want as many people there as possible to support the project.

Chairman and President Jim Beatty said, “We are asking all of Omaha to come out to meet us in the Crossroads parking lot at 11:30. At that time, we will be taking carpools, caravans and a coach bus to Lincoln. We want to have as many people possible."

The bill is LB 904.

The hearing is at 1:30 Thursday afternoon, in room 1003 at the State Capitol.
