Puppies Found Left By Highway

Three puppies left along an Iowa highway were rescued on Friday.

A man contacted Hooves & Paws Rescue near Glenwood on Thursday, saying he saw the dogs and their mother off Highway 34 near the Silver City exit in Mills County. He said he could not stop to help them.

Volunteers helped search Thursday and Friday. At 5 p.m. Friday, a man called and said he found the puppies in a ditch off Highway 34. The mother and another dog ran across the road when the puppies were rescued and have not been located.

The mother has a broken leg, according to the man who found the puppies.

Anyone interested in adopting the puppies or making a donation to the shelter may contact Hooves & Paws Rescue by calling 712-527-3721 or by visiting its Web site, hoovespaws.org.
