Program Ecourages Women To Learn Outdoor Skills

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is hosting a daylong outdoors-skills workshop, "Becoming an Outdoors-Woman."

The event at Platte River State Park in Louisville is scheduled for April 27. The workshop will include horseback riding for beginners, Dutch oven cooking and shooting skills with archery, shotguns and rifles.

The event is part of a state and national program designed to encourage women to develop skills in outdoors activities.

Participants must be at least 18 years old. A $50 registration fee will cover the cost of meals, but not camping or lodging. A park entry permit is also required.

Registration and fees are due by April 19. Registration forms are available on the Game and Parks Commission website.
