Creighton University College of Business professor William Duckworth studied technology protection plans from 12 different retailers to help consumers.
Duckworth says his research helped him develop a set of tips. He says consumers should buy from companies they trust, but read the fine print of a warranty for deductible details. Duckworth says consumers should also make sure warranties cover all kinds of accidents.
