Prison Time For Thief

Prison sentence for convicted thief who was involved in a ring of thefts in Lancaster County. Cass County authorities became involved when a boom lift was recovered at 24909 Highway 34 in the Eagle area in February of 2012.

The Cassgram lists the boom lift, taken from a Lincoln construction site, was damaged during the theft. It had been valued at over $33,000 but then sold for only $13,000 with the damage.

31-year-old Thomas Stefkovich pled no contest to a Class I Misdemeanor in Cass County. The local plea agreement took into account the point that Stefkovich was to be sentenced on two Class III Felonies and three Class IV Felonies in Lancaster County.

The one year sentence from Cass County is being served concurrently with sentences given in Lancaster County, said Deputy Cass County Attorney Richard Fedde. The Lancaster County sentences total not less than seven years and not more than 14 years. With credit for time served, Stefkovich first becomes eligible for parole in April of 2016 with a projected release date in October of 2019.
