If you lend an ear to a politician these days, you might hear about an imaginary new regulation that has become the subject of political outcry. At issue: Farm dust.
Republicans and some farm-state Democrats have told audiences that the EPA is considering a rule that would limit the amount of dust kicked up by farm equipment. The problem is that EPA officials have said repeatedly that it’s just a myth. There is no plan to do such a thing.
Some observers say the politicians are taking advantage of anti-regulation sentiment in the country. Some House Republicans have gone as far as to say they are planning to vote this week to stop the regulation from going in effect.
