The Council Bluffs Police Department has confirmed through testing that 45-year-old Janice Annette Winfield of Council Bluffs was never pregnant.

Winfield claimed to be nine months pregnant, and was scheduled to deliver today.

She went missing around 11:15 on Monday morning. Winfield's family told police they received text messages indicating that she was in distress. The messages to her mother and daughter stated that she was hurt and needed help, but she would not give family her exact location.

Council Bluffs police say the family contacted them after discovering signs of foul play inside Winfield's home.

Winfield's boyfriend, who's the father of the alleged child, said that Winfield might never have been pregnant. He says he was unaware that the pregnancy was not real until today.

Winfield was located Monday evening when she was pulled over by law enforcement for speeding on Highway 30 in Kearney, Nebraska.

Investigators took Winfield to an area hospital for an evaluation and questioning.

Channel 6 News has learned through a source that Janice Winfield was never admitted to the Good Samaritan Hospital Maternity Ward in Kearney .

Winfield's family says they have no comment at this time, and simply that Janice Winfield is safe.
