A man is in police custody after leading law enforcement on a chase across four counties. The pursuit started in Omaha, after the suspect struck a police cruiser early Monday morning.
Omaha police were called to a home near 45th & Douglas St. just before 3 a.m.
Sergeant Charles Ott says they were called to the scene to check on a man reportedly having a psychotic episode. When they arrived, Ott says the man in question "was getting into his vehicle, backed out at a high rate of speed and struck [an] officer's cruiser."
Police followed the man westbound on Dodge street. That chase eventually took officers to Interstate 680 and then Interstate 80.
The Nebraska State Patrol picked up the search in Sarpy County and several law enforcement agencies followed the vehicle through Cass into Lancaster County.
The vehicle in question went off-road at the Interstate 80 exit on 56th St. in Lincoln.
Reports from the scene indicate the man ran out of the vehicle and was quickly apprehended by Lincoln police.
No injuries have been reported. The police cruiser sustained minimal damage.
