Movie copy cat robbery update in Plattsmouth,Nebraska. The police chief said he believes the armed robbery last Friday was “an isolated incident” and the public should not have any reason to fear another such crime from those responsible.
The Cassgram reviews It was about 6:45am Friday that a female employee reporting for work at the Sac Federal Credit Union branch in Plattsmouth was approached by two men armed with a handgun. They had emerged from the bushes on the backside of the building. They entered the building with her and then left with two cash drawers, running back in the direction they came from (east of the building). (see the Friday and Monday Cassgrams.)
The cash drawers were found Saturday in the wooded area behind the Plattsmouth Eagles Club. A search warrant was served at a location late Saturday. Police Chief Steve Rathman said earlier this week that investigators have “persons of interest” in the case.
“I wish we would have caught them running from the scene Friday, but that didn’t happen,” said Rathman in an interview with Cassgram last night. However, “progress is being made each day” as the investigation collects evidence that will be forwarded to the county attorney’s office for the filing of formal charges. Rathman thinks that report could be ready in just a matter of days. “Think of it as a puzzle, we just need a couple more pieces” to make the case for the filing of charges. He said it may seem like it is taking a lot of time but it is important the investigation proceeds methodically and thoroughly so that a solid case can be built against those involved in this “major, major crime.”
He said the police department is utilizing all its resources in solving the robbery and has welcomed the assistance of the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.
In the meantime, the incident should not cause alarm for citizens going about their normal business. “There is no part of Plattsmouth that is unsafe” because of what happened last Friday, said Rathman.
