The Omaha Police Department is up for reaccreditation this year. A public hearing has been set, allowing the public to comment about the department's ability to comply with national standards.

The hearing will take place Tuesday, August 13th, at 6 p.m at Central Headquarters, just off 15th and Howard.

Anyone is invited to make a comment at the hearing. Police say comments can also be submitted by calling (402) 444-5612 on August 13th, 2013 between 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The Omaha Police Department first achieved National Accreditation status in March of 2001, and successfully completed reaccreditation in 2004, 2007 and 2010.
