Police have arrested the man they say sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in the parking lot of a Lincoln Walmart, then went back inside the store to rejoin the woman and child he had come in with.

Twenty-one-year-old Skyler Smith was arrested Friday for third-degree sexual assault. Police caught Smith after talking to the woman he was with at the store. Police say they learned the woman's identity from the card she swiped at Walmart.

Surveillance video showed a man going into the Walmart near South 84th Street and Highway 2 with a woman and child, but he soon wandered off by himself. He was seen following the teen and waiting for her at the register. He then left the store just before the girl did and approached her in the lot.

Police say he told her she was pretty and asked for her number, but the teen refused several times and went to her car. The man got into her car, asked for hugs and allegedly fondled her several times. The girl was able to get him out of the vehicle before driving away.

Surveillance video showed the suspect going back into the store and meeting up with the woman and child. Police believe because of the way he tracked the girl, this may not have been his first time doing this.
