Police are investigating a death as a possible homicide.

Lincoln police say 27-year-old Dave Mueller's family took him off life support and he died around 2:00 p.m on Sunday.

Mueller died Sunday afternoon at Bryan Health West Campus.

It's believed he may have been the victim of a possible assault on Saturday, June 29th around 3:30am at 14th and Benton Streets.

Mueller, who worked for the United Way, suffered head injuries and never regained consciousness. Police believe with the extent of Mueller's head injuries it is a possible assault, but have not yet determined what caused his death.

An autopsy is set for Monday.

One of his friends tells 10/11 News Mueller was "a wonderful guy" who loved to play volleyball. Friends have already set-up a fundraiser at Spikes Beach Bar and Grille to help Mueller's family.

Police are investigating another homicide from an assault that same morning that killed Shane Walton at 38th and L Streets.
