A Des Moines police officer accused of kicking a man in the head and knocking out his front teeth has been fired.

Des Moines Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Halifax says Collin Boone was fired Wednesday.

Boone is accused of kicking 28-year-old Orville Hill in the head in February. Police say Hill had been involved in a crash at the time and he was not cooperative as he was being taken into custody.

Police say Hill lost several of his front teeth.
