The Omaha Police Department, Southeast Precinct will have their 11th annual "Santa at the Southeast Precinct" this year. It will be December 16, from 1-4 pm.
The police are also asking the public to attend to participate in the toy collection. Every year Eric Perez from Sonido Travieso puts on a toy dance to help the police collect toys that will be given away at the “Santa at the Southeast precinct” and this year the police will also be collecting toys in collaboration with Soby Ranch Nativity scene.
The toys the police are collecting are for kids ages 3 – 11 years old and the value of the toy can be from $5 - $10. They are expecting an attendance of 3,000 this year.
The toy collection events are as follows:
1st event: December 8th from 6pm – 2am at Millennium Hall on 23rd & “N” street, where more than 20 Latino bands will play free of charge. Doors open at 5pm. Cost is a $10 value toy or $10 at the door.
2nd event: December 14th 2 – 8pm at La Plaza de la Raza on 24th “N” street. Soby Ranch Ministry will provide a LIVE Nativity with nativity animals along with a manger, a person as a Wiseman to handle the camel. The Southeast Precinct will be collecting toys during this event.
Walgreens stores on 24th & Vinton street and 24th & “L” streets are helping to collect the toys. When a person purchases a toy(s) from their stores for the event, please be sure to tell them that it is for the “Santa at the Southeast precinct” and they will keep the toy(s) at their store and deliver them later to the event on December 16th.
Walgreens will have a sale on some toys: December 2 – 8th the $9.99 toys will be $4 off. December 9 – 15th the $6.99 toys are buy 1 get 1 free.
A person can also donate toys by dropping them off at the Southeast precinct (25th & Vinton Streets) Monday – Friday from 9am to 5pm.
