The National Weather Service continues the heat advisory through Tuesday afternoon. Temperatures once again on Tuesday will rise to the upper 90s however high humidity will make it feel like 105 to 110 degrees.
A man was taken into custody Thursday morning following a robbery and pursuit through south Omaha.
Thirty-six-year-old Peter Ruedas Jr. was booked for theft by unlawful taking, flight to avoid arrest and obstruction. He allegedly stole a pickup at gunpoint in the Hy-Vee parking lot at 35th and L Streets around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Minutes later, a man was robbed near 38th and F, but police haven't said if Ruedas is a suspect.
Officers tracked the stolen truck to 48th and L and tried to pull it over. The driver led them on a chase to 49th and U before getting out and running away. A police K-9 found Ruedas nearby.
He was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center to be treated for a dog bite and possible hypothermia. During the search, an officer hurt his ankle landing awkwardly after scaling a fence.
