Police Say Alcohol, Speed Factors In I-680 Crash

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the southbound I-680/eastbound I-80 connection Saturday night. Police say alcohol and speed were factors in the accident.

An Audi driven by 24-year-old Patricia Caffey of Bellevue was going from westbound I-80 to northbound I-680 when she went off the road, through the median and hit a Buick Lesabre driven by 54-year-old Patrick Vossen of Omaha around 10 p.m. Caffey was not wearing a seat-belt and was ejected.

Both drivers were taken to Creighton University Medical Center. Caffey’s injuries were serious, but not life threatening. Vossen was in stable condition.

That stretch of I-680 southbound to I-80 eastbound was closed for about an hour.
