Poker Run Set To Honor Ambulance Driver Killed In Crash

Organizers for the Bob Hanes Memorial Poker run and Concert in Cass County Nebraska are pleased with the public response for the event that is set for Saturday September 14, 2013.

Hanes was killed earlier this summer when another driver crossed the highway line and crashed into the ambulance that Hanes was driving.

Hanes' youngest son Josh told Channel 6 News, "It's awesome that we can honor my Dad in this way, hopefully everyone will get a little piece of what our family is about. The support that we've had from everybody has just been overwhelming, it's amazing."

Steve Hanson, who is heading up the Bob Hanes Memorial Poker Run said, "A normal turnout for a poker run is about 300, right now we have 1300 people signed up. It will be a great celebration with live music after the ride."

The event begins at the Weeping Water Community Building at 11am and the last bike is due at 5:30pm at the Cass County Fairgrounds.
