48-Year old Nehawka to be sentenced July 29th after pleading no contest to a Class I Misdemeanor charge of negligent child abuse.
The Cassgram reports Timothy R. Corrick (a.k.a. Timmy Corrick) entered a plea of no contest as part of a plea agreement. He had originally been charged with third degree sexual assault of a child, a Class IIIA Felony.
Cass County District Court Judge Randall Rehmeier found Corrick guilty. There is no agreement on sentencing.
Special prosecutor Stephanie Hansen of the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office said that if there had been a trial, evidence would have been presented that Corrick inappropriately touched a then 14-year-old girl on two occasions, once while they were swimming and once while she was playing a video game.
The case was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol and a special prosecutor was involved because Corrick’s spouse is an employee of the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
The maximum sentence for a Class I Misdemeanor conviction is one year in jail, up to a $1,000 fine, or both. The state will not be asking for Corrick’s name to be placed on the state sex offender registry.
