The tours, which are free of charge, kick off on Wednesday, March 30th, with the CRP Mid Contract Management tour at the Lake McConaughy Visitor Center in Ogallala, and conclude with a pair of tours on Thursday, August 18th.

The tours are designed not only to demonstrate wildlife habitat management practices, but to highlight state and federal conservation practices that are available to landowners.

Notable dates during the landowner habitat tour circuit include Saturday, May 21, with a pair of tours at the Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area in Gering that are being held in conjunction with the 4th annual Wildcat Hills Wildlands Day event, and five tours June 21 through June 24 as part of National Pollinator Week (pheasants and quail share a common need for habitat featuring flowering plants with pollinating insects like honey bees, butterflies and beetles).

In addition to Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, the 2011 landowner habitat tours are made possible with support from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Nebraska Environmental Trust.

The tours are free of charge and a free meal is also provided. To register for any of the 22 habitat tours, contact Pheasants Forever's Mary Korth (308) 428-3062.
