Flames engulfed an Omaha home Saturday afternoon, causing portions of the roof to collapse.
Neighbors saw smoke rising from the house near 72nd and Blondo just before 4 p.m. and knocked on the door, but no one was home. They called 911 and got two dogs out of the back yard.
"Yeah, it was very frightening,” said neighbor Bill Jack. “The flames were coming up out of the roof and it was really smoky, just billowing smoke, brown smoke." It took firefighters about 40 minutes to extinguish the blaze. No word yet on the cause.
A grandmother, mother and daughter lived in the house. They're receiving help from the Red Cross for a temporary place to stay.
