Pet Safety in the Heat

The Nebraska Humane Society has fielded numerous calls of dogs being left in cars. Most cars were gone by the time our Animal Control Officers arrive.

Based on the extremely high heat index today dog owners are reminded not to leave a dog unattended in a car, even for a short amount of time.

Dogs can die quickly due to heat stroke when left in cars on a day like this.

If you have questions, or would like to report an animal locked inside a vehicle, call 402-444-7800, ext. 1.
