Pedestrian Hit By Two Vehicles

A pedestrian struck by two cars late Saturday night is fighting for life.

Police say the victim, whose name has not been released, was apparently under the influence of alcohol when he was crossing the street at 31st and L around 11:15 p.m. He was hit by an eastbound SUV. While lying in the street, he was struck again by an eastbound car.

The victim, who was not in the crosswalk, was taken to Creighton University Medical Center for treatment of a fractured skull and broken pelvis.

The driver of the second vehicle to hit him, 19-year-old Gerardo Mendoza of Omaha, was ticketed for not having a license or valid registration.
