The Open Door Mission Honored Veterans tonight at their "Salute To Red, White, and Blue Ceremony."
Dozens of veterans and current service members attended the event. Organizers served dinner and presented gifts. They then folded the flag and played taps.
Veteran Walt Smith told WOWT 6 News, the event made him very proud.
"I love my country. There's too many people I believe who don't appreciate the sacrificies of the men and women that are serving now and have served have done for us. Freedom isn't free," he said.
The Open Door Mission said 30% of the veterans they server are homeless.
Smith said he served during the Vietnam era and he was stationed in Georgia.
