Final plans are underway for “Flavors of Midtown.” The month long event that is being held at Midtown Crossing from August 1 to September 4, is presented by the Opera Omaha Guild.
The urban Midtown “tour” combines food and drink tasting events with some serious fun in Omaha’s most delicious, on-the-beaten path neighborhood. The event promises memorable experiences with delectable foods from Midtown Crossing’s one-of-a-kind specialty merchants and famous local eateries. All of this while enjoying the insider’s perspective into the culture, history and architecture that defines the “Gateway to the West.” This promises to be an exciting month of new culinary attitudes, big smiles, satisfied taste buds and the confidence to continue exploring the area.
Some of the highlights of the month include:
“Midtown Revelry,” a Kickoff Cabaret on August 26 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at Crave.
“A Flavorful Affair,” on September 4 starts with cocktails at Brix, followed by Opera Omaha’s second annual Opera Outdoors performance. The evening ends with a post-performance cast and patron party at Cantina Laredo.
Other events through-out the month are “Flavors of the Opera,” which are parties held in Opera Hosts Homes; “Taste of Midtown” events in Midtown restaurants; and “The Midtown Experience,” with Midtown retailers, events and special offers.
General Chair for the event is Jeanie Owen, President of the Opera Omaha Guild is Mark Maser. Committee members are Kathy Gross, Connie Kinnear, Patti Peterson, Francie Prior, Sally Stalnaker, and Mary Ann Strasheim. Maser said, “We are so excited to partner with the merchants and restaurants of Midtown Crossing to create this unique month-long event. “Flavors of Midtown” is just the beginning, leading up to Opera Omaha’s FREE “Opera Outdoors” Concert in Turner Park at Midtown Crossing.”
