A central Iowa man was hurt Sunday afternoon by a self-inflect gunshot wound. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 29-year-old Zach Sainz was target practicing with a handgun when one of his fingers got in front of the barrel.
The incident was reported about 2 p.m. at Badger Creek State Recreation area in Madison County. Sainz, of West Des Moines, was target practicing with a friend using a 9 mm handgun. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for a wound that is not considered life threatening.
