Omaha police have identified the driver who was killed in a one-vehicle accident in Omaha Sunday morning.
A witness told police a car heading westbound at a high rate of speed on Hamilton Street around 4:30 a.m. skidded across the eastbound lanes and hit two trees near 44th Street. A fire truck was called to the scene to extinguish flames from the engine.
The driver, 32-year-old Jessica Stanley, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene. The passenger, 33-year-old Harry Stanley, was taken to Creighton University Medical Center to be treated for serious injuries. His injuries include a fractured neck, a brain bleed, and an open fracture on his right arm.
Police say speed and alcohol are being investigated as factors in the crash.
