Omaha Woman Gets 30 Months For Two Fraud Schemes
A 56-year-old Omaha woman has been given 30 months in prison for two fraudulent schemes.
The office of U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says that in the first scheme, Rhonda Thayer-Smith submitted forms from her G-Baby Daycare
for federal meal reimbursement. An investigation revealed that she
got nearly $20,300 for children who were not in her care.
In the second scheme, Thayer-Smith used the name and Social Security number of an acquaintance so Thayer-Smith could receive
payments for providing health care to people, including her
daughter and ex-husband.
Gilg's office says Thayer-Smith was ineligible for payment because she previously had been convicted of defrauding that program.
The state says it lost more than $99,500 to Thayer-Smith in her latest scheme.
