There is only one word to describe the Omaha Rollergirls.
It is fierce. It is amazing, it is cool, it is a lot of fun," Rollergirl Lil' Bit Naut said.
Each woman has their own reason for playing.
"It is a chance to be feminine, while still being powerful and confident," Auntie Embalism said.
But they all agree on one thing.
"Once you get in, it is derby for life," says Boo-Yah
The mention of roller derby might make people think back to the 60's and 70's when it was more perfomance based, but this is definitely not your grandma's roller derby.
"It is full contact, no holds barred. It is a sport," Daisy Mayhem said.
The Rollergirls practice four times a week for three hours a practice.
Their hard work has paid off. In just five years they have gone from barely 500 fans at Skate Daze to selling out the Mid America Center.
"I walked into that room and it was full and I started tearing up and I cried. It is just an amazing feeling it is a complete rush knowing that these people are cheering for you," Mayhem said.
If you have any doubts, just go catch a match.
