Cole Cullinane told Channel 6 News Monday he discovered his stolen truck, stripped to nearly nothing, in an Omaha impound lot. The truck was stolen Tuesday as he was taking a break from work mowing lawns.
Cullinane said his truck was stolen after he went inside his house to grab a glass of water. It was a 1994 Chevy Silverado he'd just bought a week ago.
He said he spent all summer mowing lawns to buy it, accumulating 4 thousand dollars. In the back of his truck, was his lawn mower, ramps, edger, and weed eater.
Cullinane found the truck painted a different color, missing the front hood, engine, motor, wheels, and lights. The thieves also bent the barcode on the license plate so that police couldn't see it while driving. He said he took the license plate to the police station to be fingerprinted.
“I’m just bummed. It’s just...I don’t know. I feel like I wasted a lot of energy and now it’s gone,” he says.
Cullinane only had liability insurance on the truck.
He said he will continue to work to buy a new truck, but is disappointed because he will have to start completely over.
