It's the weekend so many horse racing enthusiasts wait for and it's earlier this year. Live racing is back at Omaha’s Horsemen's Park.
Aksarben has been gone for years and it's not just the visitors who have been psyched up for this tradition near South 61st and Q streets.
Trainers were nervously preparing Friday afternoon, including an Omaha native proud of the local history. "Hopefully we can start a new tradition here and get a longer meet and that's what we need, we need to be back in this part of the state where all of the population is,” said trainer Joe Hawley.
There will be five races Saturday and Sunday. Post time both days will be at 2 p.m. Besides horse racing, there is camel and ostrich racing.
