Omaha Golf Pro Arrested

Channel 6 News Fact Finders has learned Lincoln police and Nebraska State Patrol troopers showed up at an Omaha golf course Wednesday morning, but not to play a round.

Instead, they served a search warrant and arrested the head pro at Knolls Golf Course. Fifty-eight-year-old David Malone was taken into custody on a burglary warrant. Investigators seized several golf clubs and bags.

The city of Omaha hired Malone from the Lincoln Country Club about a month ago. Sources say members of the club reported golf equipment missing.

Omaha Parks and Recreation Director Brooks Bench told Fact Finders he's shocked. Malone has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Bench said city golf staff is operating the Knolls course at usual.
