Hollie Hanash has been designing clothes for the last seven years. She started because the clothes she wanted for her daughter were too expensive.

Hollie told Channel 6 News, "So I bought myself a sewing machine and taught myself how to sew and from there people started asking hey where did you get that and how can I get one."

From that simple start seven years ago, Hollie has now been invited to show her collection in New York and Atlanta. It will be costly and with three kids, the family funds are low.

"So I figured if it was something that was meant to be, then the community would support me." she said.

The community she referred to is found on "Kickstarter", an online resource designed to help creative people like Hollie connect with potential financial supporters.

In Hollie's case, her goal is to raise $5500 by the middle of April and nothing less.

"If I run short, even by $200, I get nothing."

Those are the guidelines for Kickstarter which began operations in 2009. Financial backers pledge money for support and if the goal isn't reached by the deadline, then money pledged is not activated.

Hollie is about $1200 short of her goal with twenty backers.

She knows from her daughter's experience that people like her designs.

"I had one mom stop me in the mall and offered a hundred dollars on the spot if I would give her the outfit my daughter was wearing. It's all about getting my brand out there."
