Three Sought For Omaha Bank Robbery

A U.S. Bank in Omaha was robbed by three armed men wearing ski masks Wednesday morning. Police believe the men might be linked to other recent metro robberies.

It happened just before 11 a.m. at the branch near North 90th and Maple. One bank employee was pistol-whipped in the face several times and another was punched in the chest. Neither was seriously hurt.

Bank robbers often get the cash but rarely is there violence.

Jenny found out about this case when her husband, who works in the bank, called to tell her about the robbery.

“He just said, 'I'm safe. I want you to know this happened,'" she said. “He told us he was hit several times in the head with a gun. And another employee was hit in the chest."

A surveillance photo shows a robber pointing his gun through a hole in the glass by the teller's window and as we interviewed the wife of the employee who was pistol-whipped, her husband walked out of the bank to see her.

We also spoke with another man, Joe, who raced to the bank after the robbery because his fiancé works there. He remembers when the same bank was robbed a year ago.

“That's the day I met my fiancé who works here,” he said. “I walked in about five minutes after it happened. Right before the police got here. I asked her, ‘is everything okay?’ She said, ‘yeah, I'm fine.’ Now we are here a year later. It happened again."

The three robbers ran out of the bank, up into a wooded area and past some homes and apartments.
