Rallies for and against immigration reform will be held Saturday afternoon in downtown Omaha.
The Families’ March and Rally for Dignity and Respect begins at 10th and Pacific at 3 p.m. and will culminate with a rally in Heartland of America Park. Similar marches and rallies are planned nationwide to call on Congress to pass immigration laws with a clear and attainable path to citizenship.
The U.S. Senate passed a comprehensive bill to fix the immigration system in June. A bill including a path to citizenship was introduced last week in the House.
Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom Project Immigration and the Nebraskans Advisory Group will hold a no amnesty rally from 2:45-4 p.m. at 10th and Farnam.
“It is time for our leaders to stop putting the interests of illegal aliens ahead of citizens and legal immigrants,” says Susan Gumm of Nebraska Taxpayers for Freedom Project Immigration. “It is disgraceful that the DC Mall was opened for illegal aliens and their supporters to rally for amnesty, but was closed to U.S. citizens and veterans who came to visit the war memorials."
