The Offutt Air Force Show is back after a year’s absence. The Blue Angels will be leading the performances.
These are popular shows so if you’re planning to attend, here’s some navigational help. You’ll find spots where you can park and ride to the base at Bellevue West, Bellevue East, Bellevue University and Southroads as well as the Bellevue gate behind the Sarpy County Museum. The shuttle is free. It goes from 8:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is continuous.
Many people are eager to see the show since budget cuts canceled it last year.
The aerial stunts would be tough for many to stomach but they’re thrilling to watch from the ground.
Fans lined the streets Friday to catch the rehearsal.
This will be the first air show for the Cartwright family of La Vista. Makenzie Cartwright, 15, said, "The air show is really cool and they do neat tricks I've never seen before."
Offutt is expecting attendance to top 150,000 this weekend.
All of this is an experience that’s especially thrilling for Makenzie who told us, “I have two rare lung diseases."
She can smile about that now, as can her father, John, who said, “I try to not tear up every time. There was a patch there for eight-or nine-years that was real hairy."
The Cartwrights are guests of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
