Offutt Air Force Base will hold its annual accident response exercise and is cautioning area residents to not worry if they see smoke or note a commotion.
The base, located south of Omaha, says in a news release the exercise will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The exercise is meant to test the readiness and procedures of emergency responders. As part of the event, people may see smoke, hear loud noises and see emergency response vehicles and helicopters.
