DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Officials say heavy rains are to blame for the overflow of some sanitary sewers in Dubuque.
City officials say manholes at several locations overflowed into the streets early Thursday, allowing untreated wastewater to enter some storm sewers. A pump was later used to reduce the likelihood of sewer entering nearby homes.
The state Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the affected areas for at least 48 hours.
