A 25-year-old man has been charged with impersonating an officer in trying to pull over a car in the Nebraska Panhandle.

The Nebraska State Patrol says a motorist called around 6:30 p.m. Sunday to say a Saturn with Nebraska plates was closely following another car on Interstate 80. The Saturn driver was flashing its headlights and flashing a badge of some sort.

The patrol says a trooper soon stopped a Saturn that matched the description and arrested its driver. The trooper reported that the driver, Bobby O'Reiley, of Mitchell, had with him a security badge, a .22-caliber handgun and two cans of pepper spray.

A Cheyenne County jailer said O'Reiley remained in custody on Tuesday, pending $25,000 bail. Online court records don't list the name of his attorney.
