An off-duty Omaha Police Officer had a weapon stolen from his personal vehicle over the weekend. The weapon taken was a .223 caliber rifle in its case.
According to the police report the officer parked in the area of 32nd and L Streets late Friday, January 18th and when he returned to his SUV less than half an hour later he noticed the rear widow of the vehicle was smashed, the rifle and case gone.
The thief or thieves also managed to get away with approximately 30 rounds of ammunition for the rifle.
The report indicates that total loss, including the broken window, at nearly $2,500.
