OPPD Increases Wind Generation with Broken Bow Addition

OPPD is hosting a dedication ceremony of the Broken Bow Wind Farm Tuesday afternoon.

The electric utility company says its reached 154 Megawatts of wind generation with the addition of Broken Bow. The additional renewable generation brings OPPD to 5.1% of its retail energy from renewable resources. OPPD’s says it’s committed to get that number to 10% by 2020.

“We are steadily growing greener, and we are excited as our renewable energy and sustainability program continues to gain momentum,” said Gary Gates, OPPD President and Chief Executive Officer.

Edison Mission Energy, owns and operates the $145 million, 80-megawatt-capacity Broken Bow Wind Farm in central Nebraska.

The farm consists of 50 turbines scattered on approximately 14,000 acres east and northeast of Broken Bow.

The ceremony is at 3p.m.
