A Washington, Iowa nursing home was fined $15,000 for leaving an injured resident lying on the floor for nearly an hour without helping her while workers attended a Christmas party nearby.
A video of the December incident at All American Restorative Care shows the woman lying on the floor. State inspectors said the video shows two staffers asking the woman if she was okay after falling, but they didn't help.
Workers helped the resident into bed 46 minutes after the fall. She was later taken to the hospital because of a cut on her head that required four staples.
The home's owner, Jerry Rhoads of Muscatine, is appealing and denies providing substandard care.
