Union Pacific Railroad's legendary steam locomotive No. 844 will be heading back to its home base in Cheyenne, Wyoming after being on public display in Omaha during the College World Series.
The trip back to Cheyenne will conclude the second leg of a tour that celebrates Union Pacific Railroad’s 150th anniversary and shares the company’s rich history with the communities it serves.
A Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) transmitter was installed on one of the rail cars that travel with No. 844. The GPS system has been integrated with a map on UP’s Web site at www.up.com.
Enter "Steam" in the search box on the homepage for a shortcut to the map. Web site visitors will be able to access route maps with varying amounts of detail which are updated every five minutes showing No. 844’s location.
