A 22-year-old man is facing two counts of Attempted Murder and a charge of First Degree Arson for allegedly setting fire to his mother’s house.
Jacob Rolfe is accused of the crime. He allegedly set the fire because he was angry with Jill Rolfe for “being a bad mother.”
Jill Rolfe and another son were inside the house near Delong Avenue and Deer Trail Circle in Council Bluffs when the fire was reported around 1:25 a.m. Thursday. Both escaped without injury.
A report from the Council Bluffs Fire Department says Jacob had been arguing with his mother at the house. According to the report, Rolfe's mother said Jacob had been drinking. That was when he allegedly started the fire.
Next door neighbor Dick Leed said, “Well, it just blows my mind. I can't understand. Why would anybody do that? He must have been very upset.”
Jacob Rolfe is being held in the Pottawattamie County jail.
