The Sarpy County teenager charged in connection with an October traffic accident that took the life of 15-year-old Nate LaFave, has entered No Contest pleas to charges of Motor Vehicle Homicide and Violating a stop sign. A third charge, violating a provisional operator's permit, was dismissed.
Maddie Shely, 16, entered the pleas on Friday.
In January, she had entered a plea of denial in juvenile court, which is similar to a not guilty plea.
The case involves a traffic accident at 180th and Highway 370. Shely was driving a Jeep that collided with a pickup. Nate LaFave was the front seat passenger in her vehicle. Another passenger, 15-year-old Carly Anne Kelly, was critically injured. Shely was also critically injured.
Investigators said Shely failed to yield to two vehicles that had the right of way.
The case is now set for disposition, which is the equivalet of a sentencing in juvenile court. That is scheduled for February 28.
