Nine people have submitted their applications to replace retiring Lancaster County Judge Jean Lovell.
The applicants are John Albin, Thomas Fox, Edward Hoffman, Milissa Johnson-Wiles, Timothy Phillips, Rodney Reuter, Hobert Rupe and Jim Titus, all of Lincoln. The ninth applicant is Joseph Dalton, of Waverly.
All seek the appointment of Gov. Dave Heineman to the 3rd Judicial District bench, based in Lincoln.
A public hearing of the Judicial Nominating Commission will be held in the Supreme Court Courtroom at the State Capitol on May 22.
The nominating commission will screen all the applicants and forward names of finalists to Heineman for his consideration.
