A new statewide map of Nebraska's bicycle trails and highways suitable for bicycles is available.
The Nebraska Department of Roads patterned the bicycle map after the new highway map that was released last year. But the bicycle map is printed on special waterproof plastic paper.
The map identifies towns with paths for bicycle riders and pedestrians, and shows trails longer than five miles. Plus, the state's highways are color coded to show information about traffic volume and shoulder width.
Bicyclists can use all Nebraska highways, except interstates and freeways.
The maps can be obtained from the state by emailing dor.bikeped(at)nebraska.gov or writing to State Bicycle Coordinator, Nebraska Dept. of Roads, PO Box 94759, Lincoln, Nebraska 68509-4759.
