New Program Helps Fight Childhood Obesity

Childhood obesity is an epidemic in our country, so two organizations are teaming up to try and combat that problem in Omaha.

The Children’s Hospital and Medical Center teamed up with Kohl’s Department stores to launch a program called Healthy Kohl’s Kids.

They introduced the program at Fontenelle Elementary School Tuesday morning. Kids and parents can no log onto a website that features health and fitness tips.

“Through studies we have found that childhood obesity is a concern that parents have and we feel that it is part of our responsibility to work with the community to help take on this challenge and help prevent childhood obesity,” said Rob Harding with the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center.

The program also provided the school with 700 jump ropes. Click on the link below to check out their website.
