A state committee has hired a new director for Nebraska's Foster Care Review Office.
The office's advisory committee announced Wednesday that Kim Hawekotte will assume the new role starting on Jan. 22.
Hawekotte has worked in the state's child welfare and justice systems for more than 30 years. She served as a private attorney representing youth and parents, and was deputy chief of the juvenile division in the Douglas County attorney's office.
She also is the former president of KVC Behavioral Healthcare of Nebraska.
