Neighbor Spots Smoke, Calls 911

Omaha firefighters made quick work of a house fire that started around 2:15 Thursday afternoon.

A neighbor called 911 after seeing smoke at 18th and Hickory. Once firefighters arrived, they were able to get the fire under control in about ten minutes.

Investigators said the fire started in the basement, but have not released the official cause. No one was home at the time.
