A history teacher from Omaha has won second place in the teachers tournament on "Jeopardy!"

Brooks Humphreys works at Mercy High School in Omaha. He won a
total of $50,000.

Humphreys says playing high school basketball and running over the years helped prepare him for playing "Jeopardy!" in front of an audience. He says he was hyperfocused, "like being in `the zone,' where everything around you goes away and you don't hear the crowd or anything else."

Humphreys says his winnings are likely to be spent on a kitchen remodeling project.

Patrick Quinn, who teaches German in Chesterfield, Mo., placed first. He won $100,000.
